25, 2009, at Pearl A. Kolb, S3, of La Crosse died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, in Bethany St. Joseph Care Center, La Crosse. Funeral Mass will be 11:30 a.m.

Thursday in Mary, Mother of the Dylan W.Nerby TAYLOR Dylan W. Nerby, 9, of Taylor died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Taylor Lutheran Church, Taylor.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Jack Funeral Home, Blair, and one hour prior to services Thursdav at the church. Renna Ruth (Batzel) Giesler CALEDONIA, Minn. -Renna Ruth (Batzel) Giesler, 93, of Caledonia died Friday, Dec. 25, 2009, at Caledonia Care and Rehab.

She was born Oct. 10, 1916, in Claremont, to August and Ada (Stowers) Batzel. On Jan. 16, 1938, Renna married Forest Giesler. They moved to Caledonia in 1948.

Renna worked at a number of jobs outside the home; she retired from Caledonia Nursing Home in 1982 and continued working as custodian at Caledonia United Methodist Church for 20 Church Parish at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 2006 Weston La Crosse. Family and friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass Thursday at the church. Blaschke Schneider Funeral Homes are assisting the family with arrangements.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 26, at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Viroqua. Officiating at the service will be Pastor Pete Beckstrand, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday at church from 9 a.m.

He is also survived by two brothers, Joseph (Carol) Becker and Donald (Barbara) Becker, both of La Crosse; and his sister, Marilyn Snow of Onalaska; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, David, DeLyle, Daniel and Merle. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Crucifixion Catholic Church in La Crescent, the Rev. Gregory Havel officiating.

Burial will follow in Crucifixion Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crescent with a 5:30 p.m. Vigil service. Friends may also call from 10 a.m.

VIROQUA Edith (Edythe) Bea Marie Larson, 82, died Friday evening, Dec. 18, 2009, at Bethel i Larson Home Viroqua, where she had been a resident since February 2009. Edith was born on the family farm, Jefferson Township, Vernon County, rural Viroqua, on Sept. 22, 1927, to Bennie and Mathilda (Hanson) Larson.

She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. She graduated from White Pigeon School and received her GED from WWTC. Edith worked alongside her parents on the farm. During the declining health of her parents, she provided tender, loving care for them. In 1982, Edith purchased her home in Viroqua.

Over the next years she was employed by various famines where Edith provided compassionate in-home care for individuals. Edith was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, especially in circle and WELCA. She was a member of the Sentimental Singers, AARP and the Bethel Home Auxiliary. Family was important to Edith, and she enjoyed being the hub of information. She looked forward to the family picnics and the updating of genealogy.

Edith liked to visit people and to travel around the area. Edith took trips to Branson, Paris, London and Ireland. She took the initiative to find a ride to many community activities and was appreciative to all who helped her. She was a kind and generous person, a person willing to go out of her way for someone. Edith had great patience.

There was a wit-tiness about her. Everyone who knew her liked her and enjoyed her company. During her illness, she exemplified her religious faith and trust. She accepted her fate with grace, dignity, inner peace -fulness and cheerfulness. Edith told visitors she was on her way to meet Jesus in Heaven.

Edith is survived by an aunt, Evelyn Hanson; cousins, Lilas Moy and Harlan Hjelter, Martin Hanson, Mrs. David (Shirley) Hanson, Kenneth Paul MINNEAPOLIS Paul 1 Becker died peace -fully at his home in Minneapolis after a long illness Dec. 23, 2009. His son, Michael was at his side. Paul was born in La Crosse on Nov.

19, 1935, to Edward and Rose (Tiffany) Becker. He is a graduate of Aquinas High School, class of 1954, and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, Paul began his work career at Gambles Hardware Store in La Crosse at 16 years of age as a deltvery boy working his way up to district sales manager. Later, he worked for North Central Gas Co. Paul was a natural born salesman and enjoyed his work and his different clients very much.

I had a great sense of humor and loved people. He also enjoyed fishing, playing cards and entertaining family and friends. He was born Aug. 19, 1922, in Sumner, Iowa, to Kohls Herman A. and Hilda Marie (Winning) Kohls. He was baptized and confirmed in Sumner. He graduated from Sumner High School and attended American Institute of Business in Des Moines, Iowa.

Bud entered the U.S. Army in November 1942, serving in the 82nd Airborne Glider and Parachute Division, in the Surgeons' Medical Records Section. His tour of duty took him through North Africa, Italy, Ireland, England, France, Holland, Belgium and Germany. Bud participated in five of the major invasions, including Normandy, and always felt so fortunate to have survived three glider landings. He was discharged on Nov.

24, 1945- Bud was united in marriage to Edna "Sally" M. Kohls on May 2, 1954, in Westgate, Iowa. They lived in Waterloo, Iowa, where he managed the Logan Plaza Ben Franklin Store. In 1970, Bud and Sally, with' their youngest son, Dan, moved to Sparta. They purchased the Ben Franklin Store in downtown Sparta, and together ran the store until 1992.

Bud most enjoyed being on the sales floor, meeting and greeting the customers. During his business years, he was a member of Sparta Chamber of Commerce and Kiwanis. Bud was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Sparta a man of strong faith and a very kind-hearted individual. Bud most enjoyed his time spent with his family -whether it be earlier years of camping at Hatfield or the annual Christmas gatherings at the motels or just a night "out to eat." Bud and Sally enjoyed many years of traveling especially their years in Mesa, at Trailer Village. Bud's favorite hobbies were flower gardening (rose bushes being his specialty) and later years woodworking and painting.

In March 2009, Bud became a resident at Morrow Memorial Home, Sparta. Bud is survived by his daughter, Ruth Gulley of Onalaska; four sons, Andy (Lila) Kohls of Harlan, 'Iowa, Greg (Linda) Kohls of Evansdale, Iowa, Mike (Eva) Kohls of Janesville, and Dan (Robin) Kohls of Sparta; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Bud was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sally on Jan. 21, 2007; a grandson, Brian Kohls; a great-grandson, Cory Tovar; two sisters, Hazel 1 loth and La Vera Strachan; and a brother, Ron Kohls. Memorial services will be 11 a.m.

Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sparta, with the Rev. Jeffrey Wm. Miller officiating. Burial, with military rites provided by VFW Post No. 2112, will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Sparta.

Family and friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lanham- Miller Funeral Home, Sparta, and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Thursday at the church. Renna was an active member of Aidenn Chapter No. 86 Order of the Eastern Star in Caledonia and received her 50 -year pin. She was also an active member of Caledonia United Methodist Church. During the 1976 bicentennial, Renna appeared in most of the area parades as Betsy Ross with Forest as Uncle Sam. Forest preceded Renna in death April 12, 1997- Survivors include four children, David (Elaine) of Emery, S.D., Robert (Patricia) of Cashton, Barbara (Dennis) Stone of West Salem, and Richard (Bonnie) of Caledonia; former daughter-in-law, Helen Tafoya of West Jordan, Utah; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 12 great-greatgrandchildren; five Helen Tripp, Lois Gerber, Grace Meir, Eva Mason and Jeanette Berg; and one brother, Kenneth Batzel.

In addition to her husband, Renna was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Lucille Shiffer and Ethel Weatherly; and three brothers, Everett, Jack and Ernest Batzel. Renna will be remembered as a hard-working dynamo who gave selfless -ly to her family, friends and community. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Caledonia United Methodist Church, 308 N. Kingston Caledonia.

The Rev. Sharon Goetzinger will officiate. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, 518 West Main Caledonia, with a 7:30 p.m.
